Hello.
I am in MN and have 2 patients who have been on IT for 3-4 years. After the second year, co-pays went up dramatically. They were covered by Blue Cross, New York Empire. When did NY Empire implement the policy of better coverage for IT? Is anybody else still having problems with NY?
Thanks,
Nancy Ott
Sorry for the wait in response - I really wanted to see if there would be other responders other than me.
For me the reimbursement on IT from Empire BC/BS is very good and patients that I have don't pay co-pays and the problem we had was in duration of IT ( they wanted 3 years tops including buildup) and having to justify every additional year after 3. They have printed in their policy brochure the 3 years of IT and to have records of evaluation IT and justifying continuing it past 3 years but using the form of the AAAAI . I haven't heard from my colleagues in NY re: this issue - so I can only give you my experience on the matter.
I have a feeling that rules are different in every state, but I don't know just how much different and that is why we need comments from other states as well.
