Dr. Bardana receives Gold Headed Cane Award
In recognition of his integrity and high standards of excellence, Emil J. Bardana, Jr., MD, FACAAI, Portland, Ore., was elected by fellows to receive the prestigious 9th Annual Gold Headed Cane Award presented at the Convocation held during the ACAAI Annual Meeting in Miami Beach.
Dr. Bardana is professor of medicine in the Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the Oregon Health and Science University.
He served as president of ACAAI, 2000-01, as president of the Foundation of ACAAI, 2004-08, and two terms on the ACAAI Board of Regents, 1987-90 and 1998-2003. He was the founding editor of AllergyWatch, 1999-2006, and launched ImmunologyWatch in 2005. Dr. Bardana was honored with the 1992 Distinguished Fellow Award and was selected to present the 2002 Jean A. Chapman Living Lecture and the 2009 Jean A. Chapman Memorial Lecture. He also was selected to give the 1996 Stanislaus Jaros Lecture, 1991 Bela Schick Lecture and was awarded a Master in Allergy in 1990.
The award serves as an inspiration to younger doctors and encourages them in family, social, civil, religious and professional life to cultivate character that earns the respect and good will of colleagues and the profession at large.
