About the ACAAI

The American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology is a professional medical organization of more than 6,000 allergists-immunologists and allied health professionals.

Members live and practice throughout the United States and internationally. The College fosters a culture of collaboration and congeniality in which its members work together, and with others, toward the common goals of patient care, education, advocacy and research.

ACAAI allergists are board-certified physicians trained to diagnose allergies and asthma, administer immunotherapy, and provide patients with the best treatment outcomes.

So what does board-certified mean, exactly? A board-certified allergist is trained to find the source of your symptoms, treat it and help you feel healthy. After earning a medical degree, the doctor must complete a three-year residency-training program in either internal medicine or pediatrics. Then, an allergist completes two or three more years of study in the field of asthma, allergy and immunology.
