Can allergy shots help with asthma?

English Transcript

Allergist Amber Hardeman, MD: Allergy shots can help asthma because you’re building tolerance to the things that you’re allergic to. So, we’re essentially giving you the allergen such as pollens, cat, dog that might be triggering your asthma.

So, over time, if you’re building more tolerance to these things, that means you’ll have less asthma attacks, less need for oral steroids, and an improved quality of life overall for the entire family.

This includes decreased use of medications, less missed work days for parents, and less missed school for kids.
