Allergist Kathleen May, MD: Well, firstly, we have specialized training, and that training involves in addition to going to medical school four years, we’re either board certified in internal medicine or pediatrics or both. And then we complete a two-year fellowship in allergy-immunology.
After completing that fellowship, which that’s a long process, we actually are experts in doing personalized medicine for each person. So much of medicine isn’t focused on preventive care or kind of the whole person, and the allergist really uniquely is, because we look at every aspect of your of your body in every system is impacted by allergy and immunology.
So we are very specifically focused on the patient and the quality of life for that patient and what they, what their life is like and making their work life, their home life, their school life better and optimal.
