Allergist Wesley Sublett, MD, MPH: Asthma Peak Week is historically the third week in September where we see the highest incidents of hospitalizations and ER visits due to asthma.
This is because of a perfect storm where we see an increase in Ragweed exposure because of that pollen season and because the start of school where we see an increase in viral illness.
It’s important especially for children to monitor their asthma control during this period and see a board-certified allergist if their asthma becomes uncontrolled.
